Courses Offered

The IDBE offers both Master's and Diploma courses, which are intended for practising architects, engineers (building services, civil, structural and transportation), landscape architects and all other built environment professionals, including construction managers, constructors, development and project managers, cost consultants, planners, building surveyors and clients.

Guidelines and Requirements

Almost all students attending the course are employed or otherwise involved in dealing with matters affecting the built environment, although this is not a strict requirement. Applicants are expected to have the following:

  • At least three years of professional experience since graduating.
  • Should be interested in pursuing collaborative working and developing strategic decision-making.
  • Generally a good first degree (2.1 or better) is required, although applications are welcomed from those who have alternative experience or qualifications. Please contact the IDBE Office for further advice. If you email a copy of your curriculum vitae, we can give you an initial indication of whether we believe the course will suit you.
  • Overseas students must be able to demonstrate a good command of English as this is a requirement of the University. More detail about the University Board of Graduate Studies' English language requirements can be found here.
Diversity

We aim to achieve a balanced representation of disciplines on each course. Up to a third of IDBE students come from outside the UK reflecting the increasingly global nature of the industry.

It’s a fantastic way to explore some of the issues peripheral to your work and turn them into a Masters degree and give yourself the edge over your competitors. It can reinvigorate your working life!
