About IDBE
Overview
Interdisciplinary Design for the Built Environment is a two-year part-time Masters course intended for built environment professionals with at least three years post-qualification experience. The course is offered jointly by the Departments of Architecture and Engineering. Teaching staff are drawn from the two departments and from the wider university. Distinguished practitioners also contribute regularly.
Students on the course spend seven, separate, residential study periods at Cambridge University, four during the first year and three during the second year. Each residential period lasts six days. Intake is in mid-September annually, and several of the residential weeks are arranged to bring together year 1 and year 2 students. Written assignments and a final thesis are completed by students between each of the residential weeks.
The course starts in mid September of each year. For course information, including a current copy of the course brochure, visit the Downloads section of this website.
