Lectures and seminars
Lectures
The overall lecture programme is devised to inform students and to provide a stimulus for the choice of research topic for private study. The lecture programme for each residential period is based largely on the week's Study Themes.
During residential periods, guest lecturers are drawn from the University's Departments of Architecture and Engineering, from other Departments (such as Geography, Land Economy and Philosophy) as well as from leading institutions, companies, and practices. Distinguished practitioners regularly present project case studies and personal views permitting valuable insights into personal accounts, professional values and best practice.

Horizon Lectures
In addition to the week's study theme lectures, each week contains a unique Horizon lecture series which introduces students to a wide range of contemporary issues such as ethics, truth, evolution or culture. They are usually given in the evenings after dinner.

Seminars and Workshops
The course also includes seminars and workshops which enable students to be more effective when working either one-to-one with other professionals or in multi-discipline groups. Seminars and workshops offer the opportunity for open-ended discussion. This is particularly fruitful as the interdisciplinary nature of the student groups offer a diversity of insight and experience. Such workshops include 'Working with Journalists' and 'Negotiation Skills'.
